Matthew J. Raymond, PhD, MBA, CLP
Dr. Raymond is an experienced patent agent and business development professional with broad expertise in the biomedical field. He has directed all processes associated with technology transfer for more than seventeen years and is an expert in assessing novel technologies, protecting them with an eye towards their commercial application(s), marketing technologies to potential commercial partners, negotiating licenses and monitoring licensee compliance. He understands the process involved in the development and approval of medical products and the complex steps associated with starting and growing a start-up company.
Dr. Raymond began his career as an investigator for SmithKline Beecham Animal Health in drug discovery, clinical development and technology scouting roles. While at SBAH, he was a co-inventor on US and international patents and developed several rapid assays. Matt developed broad skills in IP and licensing while working at the University of Virginia, The University of Chicago, and Rush University Medical Center. Over the course of his career, he has managed more than 600 technologies and led the licensing process for more than 100. As an entrepreneur, he is a cofounder of three biomedical companies and has been involved at various stages of dozens of other biotechnology and medical device companies.
